Hattie has wide variations in the ice thicknesses an quality. 1″-4″ of ice from the reports from fisherman(not enough for me to venture out on this one). Had enough ice by the dam that some brave souls where out on it. Looks like we may finally have a good solid start to build on.
Fishing is Fair to Good. Fishing has been picking up and doing well the last several days. Check the forecast but seem like a good time to hit up Gowdy. leaches. hot heads, and balanced leaches are the ticket right now. Florescent Red for power bait.
Hattie was about 40% open maybe a bit more. There are 3 separate open areas; from the the West end all the way to just past the point, some in the narrows and by the old boat ramp. You can find fishable open water if you are looking for it. Dam and main boat ramp are still locked in ice.
Meeboer was 100% open and free of ice. Looking forward to some great ice off fishing.
Twin Buttes opened up significantly yesterday in the wind. About 65% of the lake is now open including the boat ramp. There is still ice in the first bay and on the East end of the lake by the first outhouse. It was open water from the West end all the way past the boat ramp and all along the North shore. Should start to fish well with chironomid flies, and eggs but we’ll have to see how this goes this year.
Granite was about 80% open water. Fishing has been Fair. Eggs, Power Bait (chartreus, red), Krocodile’s (Red & White, Orange and Silver) Streamers and buggers are best bet right now Browns and Blacks.

Meeboer was about 40% open with fishable water on the East and South sides. Boat ramp was clear of ice. The west end bay and 1/2 of the “horseshoe” was still capped. Fishing had been a little bit slower but should pick up as ice comes off
Lake is capped but ice conditions very and are thin around the shore. 1.5″-3″ of ice. Fishing has been hard to report with ice conditions changing daily.
Lake Owen has around 6″ of ice and fishing is good. Access to the lake is day by day with drift conditions changing. People where able to get in with ATV this past week but may be snowmobile only any day.
Fishing has been slow as the ice has been not cooperating. Lake is almost completely capped with a small open area on the west side in the middle. Ice is very clear but appears extremely thin.
Fishing has been fair. Plenty of open water, only ice today was on the east end of the lake.
Lake is wide open and fishing has been fair. Better if you can catch a day with less white caps, which has been hard the last couple weeks.

Reef flush will be from March 28th to April 6th. From Casper Game & Fish office March 24, 2020 North Platte River flushing flow to run for ten days footer CASPER – The Wyoming Game and Fish Department cautions sportsmen to be aware of sizeable increases in water flows in the North Platte River for 10 days beginning March 28 as part of a flushing flow project. Game and Fish has requested the flushing flow in order to maintain fish spawning habitats and to increase production of invertebrates that fish depend on for food. Flushing flows are typically requested to run in mid-March; however, due to scheduled maintenance activities on Gray Reef Dam, the start date had to be pushed back two weeks in 2020. The Bureau of Reclamation will begin releasing additional water from Gray Reef Reservoir in the early morning hours beginning Saturday, March 28. Flows will increase from approximately 500 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 4,000 cfs and will then gradually decrease back to 500 cfs each day, with the maximum flow occurring between 3-7 a.m. Flows from Gray Reef Dam will return to 500 cfs at 10 a.m. each day. The schedule will be repeated through April 6. The flows below Gray Reef Dam will then be stabilized at approximately 500 cfs following completion of the ten-day cycle. This schedule may be modified due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the maintenance activities. “Data show these flows are important to trout spawning and to the numbers of trout in the river,” said Matt Hahn, fisheries supervisor for the Casper region. In the past, the trout population had fallen to less than 400 trout per mile, even with stocking. Annual flushing flows began in 1995, and now the trout population averages over 3,500 per mile. The Game and Fish Department advises sportsmen and recreationists to be aware of the potential dangers related to flushing flows. Because the flush will span the weekend, there is potential for more people to be wading or floating the river. Those using the river during the flushing flow should consider the fluctuating water levels and be aware that areas that can be waded effectively at 500 cfs are not safe at 4,000 cfs.
Thanks to or partners at Two Dogs for gitting out and checking some lakes yesterday. Now is a great time to look at booking your early season trip. https://flystore.net/two-dogs-guide-service/ Lake was 90% still iced over. Road was not passable all the way to lake.

Lake is 90% iced hot shoreline is opening up and ice looks sketch on most of the lake. A couple of open shore areas that are fishable on the southwest shore past the heat ramp. A couple diehard wind fighters out this morning in one past the walking gate.
Lake is 85% open. Only ice is on the west bank out toward the aireator 150 yards. Only concern would be the flow becoming detached and shifting in the lake. Should be a good spot to hit open water this weekend.
Lake is about 60% maybe more open. From boat ramp to south is all open to almost the other shore. Shore line is open all the way around to the road for at least 15 feet and then opens up into the whole end on west for about 30 yards.
Lake is about 50% open. East end is iced over for around 250 yards then opens up completely. Ice starts on the west end by the point on the north side then opens up again at the west end.
5″-8″ of ice on most but shore line is getting thin and sketchy at best. Be careful as warm weather can effect the ice quickly. Fishing has been fair.
