The fishing is fair to good. Ice: ~3-6″ across most of the lake. be cautious around the far western side by the narrows and the dam. Best Baits: Nightcrawlers and Meal Worms Best Lures: Rainbow Trout Spoons and Orange Jigs The Hattie Derby is still on for Jan 6th and 7th. Tickets available at the store.
Ice is 1”-4”. Hattie has a wide variance in thickness and quality of ice today but was capped. A couple of fisherman where brave enough to venture out by the dam and boat ramp which had around 4” of ice. Reports from the rest of the lake varies from 1”-3” all the way up to upper lake along the shore but not enough for us to venture out a verify today. Looks like a good start for now but needs some more cold.
Hattie was about 40% open maybe a bit more. There are 3 separate open areas; from the the West end all the way to just past the point, some in the narrows and by the old boat ramp. You can find fishable open water if you are looking for it. Dam and main boat ramp are still locked in ice.
Fishing has been Fair Ice is between 3″-9″ with the thicker being where wind has pushed sheets on top of each other. some nice perch coming out this week. Pink and green jigs seem to be the trick tipping with wax worms. Hattie Derby is Jan 4th & 5th and tickets are available at the store now. $35 for adult, $5 for youth(under 14)
